ABRAHAM’S SACRIFICIAL HANDS

Genesis 22:6-12

 

Up until this time Abraham has been on the receiving end of things.  He never really gave up anything.  When God saved us, what did we give up?  Smoking, alcohol, drugs, wicked life style, our self-righteousness.  Truth is we gave up junk.  There was nothing good in us to sacrifice.

Abraham has been given a MIGHTY CALLING
Abraham has been given a MARVELOUS COVENANT

  • Seed
  • Sand
  • Soil
  • Sons
  • Stars
  • Soul

Abraham has been given a MIRACULOUS CHILD

Now it is time for Abraham to sacrifice.

  1. PREPARATIONS OF SACRIFICE

    2. Sacrifices don’t just happen they are in preparation!

    1. God has prepared Abraham’s HANDS for the Sacrifice.
      1. The ingredients of sacrifice, time, talent, money
      2. The intentions of sacrifice

      Genesis 22:6  “And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.”

    2. God has prepared Abraham’s HEART for the Sacrifice.

      3. By Faith We Walk, By Faith We Worship!
      Each encounter with God is a preparation for the next encounter.
      Aren’t you glad God prepares the hands and the heart? The sacrifice would not be possible without this preparation!

    IT IS A TUNING PROCESS

  2. PERFORMANCE OF SACRIFICE
    1. HEAVEN said he did, recorded an offering
    2. HIS HAND said he did
    3. HEART said he did

      4. You’ve just got to do it

    Genesis 22:10 “And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son”

    The sacrifice will have to happen! When God calls for a sacrifice He means for there to be one!
    You are the only one that can do it! Can’t get around it! Present your bodies a living sacrifice…
    This is not a staged play. He is not acting. God is serious about a sacrifice.
    It would be much easier if God would do the sacrificing instead of telling us to.

    IT IS A TOTAL PROCESS

  3. PRINCIPLES OF SACRIFICE

    4. Genesis 22:12  “And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.”

    1. We see the principle of FIRSTS

      2. Matthew 6:33 “…seek ye first…”
      John 21:15 “ lovest thou me more than these” (Peter)
      Is it the gift or the giver?
      Romans 12:1“I beseech you brethren by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God …”

    2. We see the principle of FELLOWSHIP

      3. Philippians 3:10 “That I might know him in the ….fellowship of His suffering”

    3. We see the principle of FINDING

      4. You will be brought full circle to the true sacrifice!

IT IS A TIMELY PROCESS

IT IS A TYPICAL PROCESS

Hebrews 11:17 “By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
Hebrews 11:18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
Hebrews 11:19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”
